Blackburn will hope to have Christopher Samba in the starting line-up for Wednesday's Premier League clash against Newcastle at Ewood Park.
Samba has made it known he wants to leave Blackburn but manager Steve Kean is determined to keep hold of the centre-back and will be hopeful of retaining the defender beyond Tuesday's transfer deadline.
Providing he remains a Blackburn player, Samba will feature for Rovers, which will be a welcome boost for Kean who is still without Ryan Nelson.
Striker Ayegbeni Yakubu is suspended but there are no fresh injury worries for Kean to deal with.
Demba Ba and Papiss Demba Cisse are due to report back to Newcastle following their African Nations Cup duty with Senegal but Wednesday's match will come too soon for the pair.
Captain Fabricio Coloccini has recovered from a groin injury and will return to the squad, while Yohan Cabaye could feature if he is successful in his appeal against an FA charge for violent conduct.
