Lambert backs Holt after transfer interest

by Setanta Staff , 02 February 2012 football news

Norwich boss Paul Lambert insists Grant Holt is "fine" after the Canaries rejected a January offer from SPL side Rangers.

Holt has impressed for Norwich in the Premier League this season and Rangers failed with a late move for the forward.

Lambert insists the offer from Rangers was "nowhere near" Norwich's valuation and the Canaries boss doesn't think the striker will be affected by the bid from the Ibrox side.

"I spoke to (Rangers boss) Ally McCoist on Tuesday and obviously Rangers put a bid in which was nowhere near Grant's valuation anyway in my view but plus I wouldn't let him go," said Lambert.

"That is what I said the other day and nobody would believe me but the valuation I have got of Grant and the money that Rangers offered was nowhere near.

"Grant is fine. I spoke to him about it and told him what was going on and he was fine with it. He seems to be okay but it's my duty to keep him informed over what had happened.

"He's the club captain and he has done terrifically well and the Rangers offer was there but as I said the valuation was nowhere near what I thought it should be but more importantly I wouldn't let him go anyway."
