O'Neill tells Bridge to wait

by Setanta Staff , 07 February 2012 Boss tells Bridge to wait

Wayne Bridge will have to be patient as he waits for his full debut at the club after joining on loan from Manchester City.

Bridge was on the bench at the weekend against Stoke and managed to get on for a few minutes against Norwich days earlier but a full start appears to be some way away.

Boss Martin O'Neill is always reluctant to change a winning side and is also reluctant to throw Bridge straight in after he has started so few games this season.

"He is just settling down. I am mindful he was thrown in at the deep end last year. At West Ham it was thrust upon him," said O'Neill.

"I would like him to see the surroundings a bit more. It was pleasing to get into the Norwich game, that was encouraging enough for him."
