Swans set for warm-weather trip

by Setanta Staff , 07 February 2012 Swans set for warm-weather trip

Swansea have confirmed they will travel to Tenerife for a warm-weather training camp after this weekend's clash with Norwich.

The Swans, who have a two-week break after Saturday's game having been knocked out of the FA Cup, will escape the big freeze for five days at a £15million facility previously used by Manchester City, Everton and Newcastle.

Brendan Rodgers' men will have exclusive use of a natural grass pitch, 3G astro-turf pitch, three-lane running track, indoor and outdoor gym, 25-metre pool and a hydro-therapy flume channel for injury recovery.

Chairman Huw Jenkins told the club's official website, www.swanseacity.net: "It's a long season and we have a tough schedule coming up in March and April, so this is about trying to make sure the players are refreshed and ready for the games we still have to play.

"The idea is for the players to go out and have a change - it's a chance to recuperate because of the good weather and nice surroundings.

"It's not about training so much as a recovery.

"The weather here is not good at the moment and, because we have a weekend without a game, it's an opportunity to go away which Brendan wants to take."
