Mark Schwarzer has confirmed that Fulham's main aim this season is to secure Premier League safety before looking at other targets.
The veteran Australian international goalkeeper made a timely return to the first-team fold at Manchester City last Saturday following an eight-week absence due to a back injury.
And, while Schwarzer's comeback did not go entirely to plan as City romped to a comfortable 3-0 win at the Etihad Stadium, the former Middlesbrough custodian is hoping the Cottagers can get back on track on Saturday when Stoke City are the visitors to Craven Cottage.
There has been talk in some quarters of Martin Jol looking to get Fulham battling it out for a top-ten finish, but Schwarzer is adamant that survival is the main target before they can start aiming higher.
He told the Fulham official website: "I think that always has to be our main goal; to get to 40 points as quickly as possible. We're not there yet and we need to keep working at it and make sure we get another three or four wins under our belt and hopefully we can do that sooner rather than later.
"Hopefully we can be four or five games before the end of the season, or even more, where we've already reached that tally and we can start to look to progress as high up the table as possible.
"We want to try and break records again for the club; we did it a couple of years ago when we finished seventh. We finished eighth last year and we want to try and emulate those seasons and try and get back up there again."
