Declan Ryan is hopeful Lar Corbett will return to the Tipperary senior hurling panel but he admits the decision is not his to make.
Corbett informed Ryan last Monday that he was retiring from inter-county hurling, citing work commitments as the reason for his departure, and after meeting with the manager, the All-Ireland winner sent a text to his shocked team-mates to make them aware of his decision.
There have been numerous calls for Corbett to change his mind and Ryan insists the door remains open for the star forward to make his return.
"Larry has opted out of the panel for the time being due to work commitments," he is quoted as saying in the Irish Examiner.
"We’re hopeful that we might see him in the blue-and-gold again but that will be his decision. It’s unfortunate but we have go on, wait and see.
"He just said that he couldn’t give the commitment that he wanted to at the moment. He has work commitments that he said he needs to give his time to.
"We’re hoping that will change."
