Manager Tony Pulis is confident he will have the funds available to buy players this summer even if he creeps over budget.
The Stoke boss is keen to bring in quality players to replicate the effect James Beattie, amongst others, has had since his January arrival.
Beattie scored four goals in his first five matches following his move from Sheffield United.
Pulis is relying on past experiences with Stoke chairman Peter Coates over flexibility when it comes to money issues and potential signings.
“Peter is a brilliant chairman because he sets a budget, but then tells you that if something else comes up we will take a view on it,” Pulis said in The Sentinel.
“We did that with [Matthew] Etherington and Beattie at Christmas time.”
