Injuries boost for Tigers

by Richard Field , 05 June 2009

Hull have received a boost with the news that long term injury victims Ian Ashbee, Jimmy Bullard and Anthony Gardner will take part in pre-season training.

The trio will be part of the City party who travels to Italy for a pre-season training camp on July 8.

Ashbee ruptured his posterior cruciate ligament in the latter stages of last season while Bullard damaged his anterior cruciate ligament in January, and Gardner fractured a vertebrae in March.

“Jimmy, Anthony and Ian will all be at different levels of fitness,” Hull boss Phil Brown said on the club’s website.

“The plans have fitted in well in terms of the amount of rest they need because they have already been working hard.

“But by the time we get to Bormio in Italy, hopefully all three will be on the training ground in some shape. Whether that is in full-training, just short of full-tilt training or just rehabilitation we’ll see, but they’ll certainly all be going to Bormio.”
