We’ve diagnosed the problems, identified the targets and given our recommendations... now it’s your turn.
There’s nothing every football fans loves more than to speculate on where their team needs to strengthen, how much to spend and who to buy. Our team-by-team analysis of what needs to be done is the perfect chance for just that.

We have pinpointed the weak spots and given our suggestion for who should be the number one priority as well as a handful of alternatives.
Will Gianfranco Zola heed our advice? Have we missed a trick? Is our budget unrealistic? Who would YOU sign? Don’t be shy in letting us know by dropping us a comment at the foot of the page. Let the debate commence...
Right Back: Marco Motta (Udinese/Roma) It doesnt’t take a rocket scientist to work out that Zola will be sniffing around the Italy Under-21s. Motta’s made a real name for himself on loan at Roma this season and, although a little pricey, The Hammers need a replacement for the departing Lucas Neill.
Alternatives: Rod Fanni (Rennes), Angel Rangel (Swansea)
Back-up left back: Marek Cech (West Brom) Hold your horses, we hear you cry. When you can’t get Paul Robinson out of the team, nobody would blame you for getting a bit of a complex. Cech has looked distinctly average when called upon by The Baggies but, from what we’ve seen of him at Porto, he’s got plenty to offer.
Alternative: Andrew Taylor (Middlesbrough)
Back-up defensive midfielder: Gelson Fernandes (Manchester City) The Switzerland midfielder’s agent told setanta.com on Thursday that his client is on the hunt for a move which, considering City’s ever-increasing bounty of central midfielders, is no surprise. Tidy enough from what we’ve seen, more than adequate cover for the likes of Scott Parker.
Alternative: Matthew Bates (Middlesbrough)
Striker: Obafemi Martins (Newcastle) Who knows how much money Zola is going to have to spend? One thing that is in no doubt is that he needs a more mobile striker to work alongside the likes of Carlton Cole and (if ever fit) Dean Ashton. Martins can be explosive and Newcastle NEED to sell.
Alternatives: Eidur Gudjohnsen (Barcelona), Mario Balotelli (Inter)
