Burnley's operational director Brendan Flood is not ruling out selling Chris McCann or Chris Eagles in the future.
The Premier League new boys have made it clear they do not need to sell to buy players but Flood realises The Clarets performance in The Premier League will have a baring on transfer dealings.
McCann and Eagles were linked with moves away from Turf Moor in January and their profiles will be elevated from the start of the new campaign.
"Inevitably, if we were in the top half of The Premier league we'll get bids for players, and you've to be open minded and say 'we might sell someone for £5 million-plus, because that's good business'," Flood said in the Lancashire Telegraph.
"Then buy another lad who's as good as Chris McCann or Eagles for £1m from lower down. We've got to be prepared to do that.
"It will be a pure business decision if we did."
Goalkeeper Brian Jensen is reportedly on the verge of signing a two-year contract extension at Turf Moor.
