Bolton are set to step up their efforts to sign Portugal international Miguel Veloso from Sporting Lisbon, according to reports in Portugal.
They are reportedly set to offer 12 million Euros (£10.2 million), while Sporting are said to be holding out for a figure closer to 15 million Euros (£12.75 million).
The club have been suffering financial difficulties and new president Jose Eduardo Bettencourt is said to have admitted privately to directors that if an offer arrives it will be accepted.
Veloso has spent his entire career to date in Portugal but has revealed he would be tempted by a switch to England.
"An important offer from a Premier League club would be tremendously attractive," the 23-year-old was quoted as saying.
