Mark Hughes has insisted that both Robinho and Elano will be staying at Manchester City next season.
Robinho prompted speculation about a move away recently when he claimed that ‘Barcelona are a great team and everybody would love to play for them’ - and Barca star Daniel Alves then called on the club to make a move.
However, Hughes feels Robinho’s comments were taken out of context and says he will still be at Eastlands next season.
“Yes, I read that about Robinho,” he said in the Daily Star Sunday.
“I read his quotes – but he was just trying to answer the question from a journalist. People have then jumped on the actual wording of it.
“If you read the quote right the way through, he ends it by saying he is very happy at Manchester City and he doesn’t want to leave, so there you are.
“There is no indication from Robinho that he’s unhappy here. None at all.”
Brazil team-mate Elano, meanwhile, has been linked to both Inter and Juventus and admitted he would like to move to Italy.
But Hughes feels his reaction is the result of Gareth Barry's arrival from Aston Villa and has suggested Elano will also remain at Eastlands.
“What happens is players see other players coming to the club and think that will affect their own position,” he said.
“Players always want assurances about their future at the club. Elano is a case in point.”
