It is ‘impossible’ to communicate with Roman Pavlyuchenko if you are not Russian, said former Tottenham keeper Cesar Sanchez.
Sanchez, who experienced a six-month spell at White Hart Lane before signing with Valencia during the last January transfer window, has stated that there is a lack of communication at Spurs due to the foreign players’ bad English.
The Spanish veteran has insisted that Spurs striker Pavlyuchenko, who has been linked to a host of clubs this summer, cannot speak a word of English, as a consequence, communicating with the Russian is ‘impossible’.
“Pavlyuchenko, for example, didn’t speak a word of English,” Cesar told Don Ballon.
“Communicating with him was impossible.
“The club is about signing young players for the future, but it’s complicated up there because you must give them time.
“When I arrived they had got rid of half of the squad and many foreigners that can’t speak English came over.”
He continued: “With more time, Juande [Ramos] would have been capable of make of them a great team, like he did with Sevilla and Madrid."
The Spaniard has affirmed that if you are tall and strong, you can be a Premier League goalkeeper.
“It’s a bit harsh to say that [the English goalkeepers are bad]. Premier League goalkeepers must be the tallest possible and kick the ball hard. That’s what they want and they don’t ask for more.
“They do sign keepers from countries where there is not goalkeeping culture.” He added: “The level of the Spanish goalkeepers is infinitely higher than the English one.”
