Yaya deal a no-no for Gunners

by Tom Adams , 16 June 2009

Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure is poised to sign a new contract with Barcelona, bringing to an end suggestions that he could join his brother Kolo at Arsenal.

The holding midfielder helped Barca capture an unprecedented treble last season but has been frequently linked with a possible departure from Camp Nou, particularly after his agent suggested that talks over a new deal had failed.

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas even hinted that Toure would be a fine signing for The Gunners, who have opted against recruiting the player in the past, despite the success that Kolo has enjoyed at Arsenal.

But now the Barca midfielder’s agent, Dmitri Seluk, claims his client will be remaining in Catalunya.

"He is very happy at Barca and in the city," Toure's representative Dmitri Seluk is quoted as saying by Sport.

"The atmosphere within the club is excellent and the team is marvelous and for those reasons he wants to stay and we should have a deal done this week."
