Barca 'target' Reina wants Premier League title

by Ben Blackmore , 18 June 2009

Jose Reina claims his sole focus is winning the league at Liverpool, despite reports of a £17 million move to Barcelona.

Thursday morning reports have the Spanish shot-stopper linked with a return to Camp Nou, as contract negotiations with Victor Valdes continue to stall over financial demands.

Barca are prepared to offer €20 million for the Liverpool keeper, offering him the chance to stake a claim for the number one jersey at the World Cup in a head-to-head battle with Iker Casillas.

However Reina, who has been tipped as a future Liverpool captain by Steven Gerrard, insists his only focus is bringing The Premier League title back to Anfield.

"All we want here at Liverpool is to win the Premier League,” Reina told LFC Magazine.

“I would prefer to win every game 3-2 if it meant we won the title at the end of the season.

"I had a little challenge going with Petr Cech last season where we would see who could concede the least goals.

"We would send text messages to each other about the clean sheets as well. I told him I would swap all my clean sheets for his league titles.”
