Van Nistelrooy advises Madrid exodus

by Toby Davis , 18 June 2009

Ruud van Nistelrooy insists he has no plans to quit Real Madrid, but has advised his fellow Dutch team-mates to move on.

Madrid have embarked on a spending spree since Florentino Perez returned to the club as president with Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo joining in massive-money deals.

With more signings on the horizon, several of Madrid’s Holland contingent are likely to see their places come under threat.

Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Royston Drenthe and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar have all been linked with moves away from the club and Van Nistelrooy says if they get an offer they should go.

“I just stick to my contract,” Van Nistelrooy told Nos Radio.

"When the other guys get an offer from a big club, they should accept it.

“They all have big goals, one of which is also participating in the 2010 World Cup, possibly in the starting XI.

"It is different for me. I am injured, and I do not know what Madrid want from me."

Van Nistelrooy was linked with a return to The Premier League with Tottenham mooted as a possible destination.

The North London club were also reportedly keen to tie up a triple deal for Robben, Huntelaar and former Manchester United full back Gabriel Heinze.
