Russians deny receiving Everton offer

by Tom Adams , 21 June 2009

CSKA Moscow have firmly denied reports that they have received a bid from Everton for defender Sergei Ignashevich.

It has been suggested that David Moyes has targeted the Russia international as a potential replacement for Joleon Lescott should his current centre back move to Manchester City.

Following such claims from Russian daily Sport Express on Friday, quotes soon arose from CSKA president Evgeny Giner in which he was alleged to have claimed: “We have a very interesting offer from abroad.”

But Giner has completely denied making any statement regarding Ignashevich and has underlined that CSKA are yet to receive any offers for the 29-year-old.

"According to some media sources PFC CSKA has an interesting offer for Ignashevich, and I told the media about it,” Giner told the club’s official website.

“This is not true. We have no offers for Ignashevich currently so I didn't give any comments over Sergei, neither to local nor to international media.”
