The Boruc-McGeady clash is bad for The Bhoys.
Artur Boruc’s fight with Aiden McGeady was allegedly pre-meditated. A guy has come off the training ground, something has gotten into his head and it’s cooking away in there. Boruc has gone into the shower, wanting more retribution.
I have never been with a group of players, when there was a fight that continued to roll on. Normally, there are a few punches thrown, you end up rolling around on the floor and it’s finished. Alright, so you may not talk to each other for a couple of hours, but then somebody cracks a joke and it’s all over. That, in my experience, is how it’s always been.
The incident can’t be good for the club. This sort of situation doesn’t do anybody any good or get anyone’s adrenalin going in a positive way. All it serves to do is divide people, especially if they saw a pre-meditated attack on somebody.
In all my time in football, I’ve never seen that – somebody going away and thinking about it, before administering an attack.
Nobody should have a divine right to be in a football team, and Boruc should be no different. For me, it’s down to how you perform. If someone’s not performing, no matter how big of a star they are, they should come out of the side.
