Tottenham Transfer Talk

by setanta.com staff , 29 May 2009

Check out all the transfer talk from Tottenham throughout the summer.

* Ruud van Nistelrooy has been linked with a move to Spurs in recent weeks but the striker has firmly stated that he hopes to remain with Real Madrid. Click here for full story.

* Meanwhile, take a gander at what Heurelho Gomes has been saying about a possible move to Feyenoord.

* My first revelation, if you can call it that, is that Aruna Dindane is leaving Lens this summer. "Why would I care?" I hear you murmur. Well, if you're a Villa, Spurs or Stoke fan he's been linked to all your teams.

* Bad news for Spurs fans... It looks like Zokora's staying. Sevilla president Del Nido admits the gap between what Spurs want and what the Spaniards are willing to play is huge. Click here for more...

* Spurs news... It looks like Tottenham are facing competition for Huntelaar. Kicker and Stuttgarter Nachrichten (surely the most German-sounding paper in the world) both claim Stuttgart will bid for the Madrid man if they miss out of Hoffenheim's Demba Ba...

* The Birmingham Mail are suggesting that Spurs are keen to nab Nigel Reo-Coker from Aston Villa, and could offer any one of David Bentley, Jermane Jenas or Tom Huddlestone as part of a deal.

* Anyone who read Arjen Robben's father's - and agent - comments on a mooted move to Spurs earlier this week may well have been amused with his reponse. However, it seems Hans and his lil' nipper will have to seriously consider their options after Real Madrid director general Jorge Valdano advised the Dutch winger to listen to any incoming offers

* Who else misses Guus Hiddink? We do so much that we've been delving around in Russia only to find him having a bit of a chinwag about Roman Pavlyuchenko. He reckons the Tottenham striker (target for Stuttgart) needs to have a think about his future. Here's the story in full.

* Some morning advice to you celebrity spotters out there, get yourself to a tennis court near you and you might bump into the managers of Tottenham and Aston Villa. According to the Daily Mirror, Martin O'Neill and Harry Redknapp are 'playing tennis, bouncing ideas off each other to formulate a swap deal involving Reo-Coker and Tom Huddlestone'. You can imagine the conversation, "I want the best passer of a ball at Tottenham in exchange for this fella who cannot promise to kick the ball in the direction he intends...."

* Arjen Robben's father and agent has rubbished this morning's reports that the Dutch winger is in talks with Tottenham. "Nonsense, absolute nonsense," he says! Read it here!

* Reports in Spain of all places are suggesting that Spurs have lodged a firm bid for Aston Villa striker John Carew.

* Reports in Holland say that Genoa have offered €12m for Moussa Dembele. It's now believed AZ Alkmaar are holding out for a €20m bid from Chelsea, who've been strongly linked with the forward. Spurs, unsurprisingly, have also been connected with the Belgian star.

* Almeria midfielder Kalu Uche, who has been linked to Spurs, could leave Almeria if a substantial offer came in, the Spanish club have said. Read the precise details here.

* Spurs will have been alerted by Middlesbrough's admission that they'll be forced to consider offers for Stewart Downing this summer. See what Boro chief exec Keith Lamb said here.

* Moussa Dembele's agent has confirmed Tottenham's interest in the player and Chelsea also want him. Click here for the full story.

* Maxi Rodriguez has been linked with a move to Tottenham in recent weeks but the Argentina star claims he wants to stay at Atletico Madrid. Click here for more.

* Everton are the latest side to be touted for a move for Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas. They'll have to join the queue behind Inter and Aston Villa...

* Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's agent says the Real Madrid striker - linked with Tottenham, Roma and Juventus - won't be going anywhere this summer. See what he had to say in detail here.

* Former Spurs loan keeper Cesar Sanchez has lifted the lid on trying to communicate with Roman Pavlyuchenko. Let's put it this way, he wasn't very flattering. Click here for more.

* Luca Toni - now there's a player I'd like to see in England. The Bayern Munich striker's been linked with a move to England and admits he has 'no idea' where he'll be after the summer. I can't help him there, but I can tell you where to read from him. Right here.

* Dario Srna has revealed that he is in receipt of two offers amid reported interest from Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool.

* Spurs have failed with an offer for former Portsmouth midfielder Sulley Muntari, now at Inter. That is according to the player's agent. Click here for more.

* We have news on those Huntelaar to England rumours... the striker's agent is insistent that an exit from Real Madrid is not on the cards at present. Click here for more.

* L'Equipe reports that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will travel to Madrid on Monday in an attempt to sign Real striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

* Sebastien Bassong has confirmed he wants to leave Newcastle, with reports in the papers claiming that Arsenal and Tottenham are interested. Full story here.

* We've got an exclusive on our hands. Tottenham's Giovani dos Santos, so setanta.com understands, is in talks with Espanyol after admitting that life at White Hart Lane's not all that. Click here for more.

* Maxi Rodriguez, actually speaking in a Spanish publication yesterday, said he had received offers from England and Italy but had absolutely no intention of leaving Atletico Madrid. Might put paid to the link with Spurs this morning.

* Reports in Tuesday morning's newspapers claim that Spurs are moving closer to signing Ruud van Nistelrooy from Real Madrid. What do you make of that?!

* Lazio striker Goran Pandev has indeed confirmed his desire to leave the club. Spurs have been linked with him in the past but Bayern Munich or Juventus seem to be more likely destinations. Can't help but Spurs need a proven Premier League striker to move to the next level. Not that I've got any suggestions.

* When was the last time Didier Zokora made the news twice in the same day? Today is such a day. Sevilla manager Manolo Jimenez admits the Tottenham man is a target - click here for more. Any thoughts on him? I remember having high hopes for him when I first saw him play in England.

* Italian newspaper Il Messaggero believe Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko is an option for Roma this summer.

* Some news for our reader Ashton on Spurs. Not sure he'll be overly happy to hear Paul Scharner claim Tottenham are one of five clubs on his trail. Everton, Fulham, Hertha Berlin and Hamburg are the others, according to the wantaway Wigan man. There has been a lot of talk coming from the Austrian in the press in his homeland recently and he definitely wants out.

* News from Sevilla and the word is they cannot afford Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora, despite admitting he would be an ideal capture.

* The Sunday Sun is always a good source of gossip in the North East and they are reporting today that both Tottenham and Wolfsburg are hoping to sign Jonas Gutierrez from relegated Newcastle.

* You know the way Spurs are linked with every other player during the transfer market? Well one such name, Goran Pandev of Lazio, looks set to not be heading for White Hart Lane. According to his agent, anyway.

* Harry Redknapp has revealed Spurs and Liverpool both tried to sign Gareth Barry but were blown out of the water by Manchester City.

* Tottenham defender and France Under-21 international Dorian Dervite, who was on loan to Southend this season, has been contacted by Montpellier, who are trying to strengthen after winning Ligue 1 promotion.

* Here is more on Corluka's interview in Croatia, as promised. Click here.

* Spurs defender Vedran Corluka has conducted an interesting interview in Croatia. He reckons Harry Redknapp is keen on signing Darijo Srna so more on this when we have it

* An update concerning Spurs. Sources in Turkey are claiming Tottenham have an interest in Bursapor whizz-kid Sercan Yildirim. He's only 19 and we'll await further clarification on these links but if you want to take a look for yourself go here.

* Ricardo Rocha has spoken of the chaos that presented itself during his spell at Tottenham. He means personally rather than at the club though as he felt unwanted.

* Sevilla's local paper reckons Didier Zokora could be an ideal signing for them.

* It appears as though Kevin-Prince Boateng will be returning to Spurs after Borussia Dortmund decided against signing the midfielder permanently.

* Blaise Matuidi, who has been linked to Arsenal, Tottenham and Portsmouth, has refused to commit himself to St Etienne. Here are his words in all their glory.

* Well, knock me down with a feather! Vincenzo Iaquinta has ended speculation about his future by signing a new four-year contract with Juventus. If you're ever in negotiations for a new contract, you're almost certain to be linked in some way with a move to Tottenham. It's never happened to me personally, but then maybe my agent isn't doing a good enough job.

* Ricardo Rocha has just left Tottenham and now fellow flop Gilberto could follow him out of the club. Palmeiras manager Carlos Alberto Parreira has admitted he is an admirer of the non-playing full back.

* Ricardo Rocha heads a list of 12 players shown the door by Tottenham Hotspur. Click here for full story.

* Kieran Richardson has dismissed suggestions that he could be poised for an £8 million move to Tottenham, telling the Sunderland Journal that he is happy to stay with The Black Cats. Click here for full story.

* Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has been constantly linked with a move to England in recent months with Arsenal, Spurs and Man City amongst his reported suitors, but the Moroccan has claimed he will be staying with the newly-crowned French champions. Click here for full story.
