Sri Lanka avoid late drama

by Admin , 30 July 2010 cricket news

Sri Lanka managed to avoid any late drama on the final day of the second Test with India as they secured a draw in Colombo.

A draw looked to be on the cards from the first day and after Sri Lanka posted a total of 642/4 it looked unlikely the game would reproduce the kind of incident seen in the first Test.

India were equally as stubborn with the bat, making 707 all out as they look to try and rescue the series having lost the first match.

While India established a 65 run lead there wasn't enough time to force a result as Sri Lanka batted out the final day, ending on 129-3 as the two teams decided to shake hand.

The pitch in Colombo, a batsmans paradise, was always going to make it difficult for the bowlers and Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara was quick to praise his bowlers after their hard work in the field.

"It was hard work for the bowlers," Sangakkara said.

"But our guys impressed today. We were always on the attack, always had catchers around the batsmen and we didn't let anything slip."
