Mick rules out Doyle deal

by Setanta Staff , 31 January 2012 Mick rules out striker deal

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has blasted reports suggesting Kevin Doyle could be on the move before today's deadline.

Doyle has slipped out of favour at Molineux and reports claimed that Everton could be lining up a £6.5million move for the Republic of Ireland international.

It had also been claimed that Newcastle striker Leon Best was being lined up as a replacement but McCarthy insists the striker is staying put.

"Whether there is interest or there isn't interest in Kevin, it doesn't matter because he is going nowhere," McCarthy said.

"I would really be crackers to sell Doyle with two days to go. I'm not crackers."

As for strengthening his squad McCarthy is looking to bring in one or two loan players after offloading Sam Vokes to Brighton.
