Tevez 'welcome' to play for Boca Juniors

by Setanta Staff , 01 February 2012 Tevez 'welcome' to play for Boca Juniors

Argentine side Boca Juniors have said they would welcome Carlos Tevez to the club if Manchester City feel he needs to play games.

The 27-year-old hasn't featured for Roberto Mancini's team in over four months after he refused to come off the bench during a Champions League tie at Bayern Munich in September.

He's since fled to Argentina and has refused to return to England, infuriating both Mancini and his bosses at the Etihad Stadium.

It was thought that he would leave the club during the January transfer window with Milan and Inter known to be admirers but both club baulked at the fee being demanded by City and he remains contracted to the Premier League title hopefuls.

However, the transfer windows in both South America and Russia remain open, so Tevez could still leave the north-west in the next few weeks if a fee can be agreed between two parties.

If it can't Boca are still willing to let him build up his fitness with them, with a view to him moving elsewhere in the summer.

"If Tevez arrives for free then we would be happy to have him," Boca president Daniel Angelici told Todo Noticias.

"If Manchester City call us and say that they need him to play games, our doors are always open."

Manchester City, minus Tevez, are next in action on Saturday when Fulham visit Eastlands.
