After 14 months of intense international competition the European race for places at the 2010 Football World Cup Finals has come down to the final two rounds of games. In six of the nine qualifying groups the automatic qualification place for coming 1st is still up for grabs and there are also the eight spots in November's playoffs to play for.
In the South American World Cup qualification group the qualification process has lasted a mammoth two years. After head to head, home and away meetings between the cream of the continent's national teams there are still two more automatic places available and one playoff place with everything to be decided in October.
