After 14 months of qualifying fixtures both France and the Republic of Ireland find themselves just two games from a place at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.
Although unbeaten in their 10 qualifying games Republic of Ireland were just pipped by Italy for top spot in their group and will be looking to carry on that momentum into the playoff. France surprisingly came out second best to Serbia in their group but with a host of stars gracing their line-up they will not fear the Irish.
