Lewis Hamilton will give evidence at the upcoming of trial of Adrian Sutil, it has been confirmed.
The German has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm to an executive of the then Renault team, Eric Lux, following last April's Chinese Grand Prix.
Hamilton was in the same nightclub as his close friend Sutil at the time of the incident.
Sutil is alleged to have assaulted Lux with a broken class, but the former insists that he only intended to throw the drink, and not the glass.
The court case is due to take place on January 30 and 31.
"The first day Lewis Hamilton is being called as a witness," court spokeswoman Ingrid Kaps told the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper, according to BBC Sport. "This is a mandatory appearance."
