Doumbia bemoans Albion deal collapse

Rennes midfielder Tongo Doumbia is still looking to secure a move to the Premier League despite the collapse of his move to West Brom.

The Mali international looked all set to make the move to the Hawthorns last week when he confirmed that the Baggies showed the most desire to sign him from the French Ligue 1 outfit.

However, the move fell down in the final stages of negotiations when the two parties could not agree on personal terms for Doumbia.

The player is now back with Rennes preparing for the start of their new season, but he remains interested in making the move to the Premier League.

"I wanted to play in the Premier League and I still want that but do not know if it can ever happen," Doumbia told Sky Sports.

"I am 22-years-old and everything is possible. I am disappointed it did not happen because we could not agree things but I am doing my best to be a top player in a top league."

Whether Albion will look to re-open discussions with Doumbia at some point in the transfer window remains to be seen.
