Jol vows to keep Dempsey

by Setanta Staff , 29 July 2012

Martin Jol says that he does not want to comment on speculation linking Clint Dempsey to Liverpool but hopes to keep the striker at Fulham.

The American international is wanted by Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers but Fulham insist that they have yet to receive an offer for the striker, who bagged 23 goals last season.

Dempsey is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract and Jol has vowed to try to keep hold of the player, despite a strong possibility that he will be heading to Anfield.

"I don't want to talk about that (speculation)," Jol told the Fulham Chronicle. "I love Clint, he scored a lot of goals and I want to keep him."

Liverpool are ready to offer £10million and the Cottagers will struggle to turn down such a bid no matter how determined Jol is to keep hold of the player.
