Tottenham beat the transfer deadline by minutes to wrap up a late swoop for Fulham striker Clint Dempsey.
Liverpool always looked in the box seat to sign the forward, while Aston Villa also made a late enquiry on Friday to take the American on a season-long loan deal.
However Tottenham have swooped to sign the player for an undisclosed fee while the length of the contract has also yet to be revealed.
A statement on the Fulham website read: "Fulham Football Club can confirm that, on Friday evening, Clint Dempsey joined Tottenham Hotspur. Clint was a very influential player for Fulham over a number of seasons and the Club thanks him for his contribution and wishes him well for the future."
Dempsey is also delighted with the move and cannot wait to get started.
"To play under this head coach and play for this club is a dream come true. I want to make the most of it," he said on Tottenham's Twitter feed.
"There are a lot of great players here, I'm looking forward to training and playing with them."
