Late strike denies dominant Spurs

by Cian O'Callaghan , 04 October 2012

A late equaliser from Panathinaikos left Tottenham still seeking their first win in Europa League Group J in a match they dominated.

A goal in the first half from centre-back Michael Dawson looked to have given Spurs the vital three points in a match they controlled but a strike from Spanish striker Toche 14 minutes from time levelled matters.

Manager Andre Villas-Boas, who has made no secret of his desire to win this competition, will be disappointed with his side's failure to close out the match and will rue a number of missed opportunities to end the game as a contest.
