November gongs for Clarke and Fellaini

by Michelle Fortune , 11 December 2012

West Brom boss Steve Clarke and Everton's Marouane Fellaini have been named Premier League manager and player of the month for November.

Clarke is just five months into his role as manager of West Brom but he has enjoyed a bright start to his tenure with the club currently sixth in the Premier League, level on points with fourth-placed Everton.

Although the Baggies have lost three games on the bounce they recorded four successive wins, the first time in their Premier League history they managed such a feat, and Clarke's role in their success has seen him bagging the manager of the month award.

"It’s a good reward for a good November," Clarke said. "I’m the one that picks the award up but it’s obviously down to the work of my staff and players.

"The players were exceptional in November. We had a great run. Four victories in a row in the Premier League is difficult to achieve.

"We managed to do that and this trophy is a little reward for them. We wanted to start well and we wanted to try and build on it.

"Up until November, we’d done really well.

"The last three games we’ve lost and now it’s a different challenge for us and a different kind of pressure."

Fellaini, meanwhile, has been a pivotal player for Everton this term and his four goals in November proved crucial as the Toffees lost just once in the month.
