David Beckham is training with Arsenal but manager Arsene Wenger insists there is no chance of the former England captain joining the club.
Beckham is without a club after deciding to leave LA Galaxy at the end of the MLS season, despite having one year remaining on his contract, and has been in England since before Christmas contemplating his next move.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs but he has yet to make a decision on his future and his arrival at Arsenal sparked speculation that he would be joining the club.
Wenger, however, has made it clear that Beckham is only training with the Gunners in a bid to maintain his fitness.
"He has asked to come here and work on his fitness. He has not done anything for a long, long time. He comes here to try to be fit again. He called me," Wenger told reporters.
"It is purely for fitness, there is no speculation about signing or anything.
"I believe he is coming here purely on fitness purposes.
"We are helping someone who deserves it. We are open for people who behave well when they come here and who have given great service."
