Manchester City could be without captain Vincent Kompany for another three weeks as he battles to recover from a calf strain.
Kompany limped out of last week's FA Cup fourth-round win at Stoke after suffering the injury and was forced to sit out the midweek goalless draw against QPR.
Manager Robert Mancini had hoped to have his skipper back for the weekend's visit of Liverpool, but the Italian has revealed the defender is facing another three weeks on the sidelines, which would rule him out of the Premier League tie against Southampton and FA Cup fifth-round tie with Leeds on February 17.
"Vinny is out. I hope he can recover after the FA Cup," Mancini confirmed.
Kompany could return for the Premier League home tie against Chelsea on February 24.
