Jones and Evans train ahead of Madrid

by Michelle Fortune , 12 February 2013

Phil Jones and Jonny Evans trained with the rest of the Manchester United squad ahead of the trip to Spain for Wednesday's Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

Jones was thought to be a major doubt for the last 16 first leg after being forced off during United's 2-0 win over Everton on Sunday, but he trained without any problems on Tuesday morning.

Evans also picked up a knock at the weekend but he took full part in the session ahead of the squad's flight to Madrid and with Young and Scholes also back training, Sir Alex Ferguson looks to have a full squad to choose from.

Wednesday's match will be the first time Evans has played at the Bernabeu but he insists the squad are not worried about taking on the Spanish giants at their home ground.

"We can't be daunted. We are Manchester United. Teams look up to us as well. I am sure the same pressures will be on them," Evans told the club's website.

"We have to treat it like another game. You are playing against better players but we play against Premier League opposition every week and it is one of the best leagues in the world.

"You are coming up against different opposition and players who can hurt you. It is just as if we were playing against Manchester City or Liverpool. We are playing against top players and have to make sure we are spot on."
