Bhoys edge Inverness

Celtic reopened a four-point gap over Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premier League thanks to a 1-0 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday.

Joe Ledley netted the only goal of the game after 16 minutes, as both sides finished the game with 10 men, following dismissals for Celtic’s Daniel Majstorovic and Caley's Steve Williams.

After both sides had looked dangerous during the early stages, Celtic hit the front when Scott Brown’s through ball played in James Forrest, who crossed for Ledley to score.

Charlie Mulgrew went close on two occasions, as Celtic threatened to extend their lead, but the hosts went down to 10 men on the hour-mark, with Majstorovic sent off for taking down Jonny Hayes.

Claude Gnakpa was guilty of wasting a fine opportunity for Inverness to draw level, shooting into the side-netting when a ball across the box for one of two teammates would probably have resulted in a goal.

Williams was shown red with 13 minutes remaining, picking up his second booking of the game for a foul on Geogios Samaras.

Inverness continued to press for a leveller, but Celtic held on to extend their lead at the head of the SPL.
