Lemi makes Worcester switch

Samoa winger David Lemi is set to return to England after agreeing to join Worcester Warriors from Glasgow Warriors in the summer.

The 30-year-old knows Sixways chief Richard Hill well from their time together at Bristol prior to a switch to London Wasps before heading north of the border to Firhill last November.

Lemi has an impressive strike rate in the Premiership after amassing 36 tries from 95 games in the English top flight while he has also played in two Rugby World Cups.

Hill is trying to strengthen his squad in order to compete higher up the table, with Worcester currently in 10th place in the Aviva Premiership, some 13 points better off than rock-bottom Newcastle Falcons with eight games of the regular season to go.

Hill told Worcester Warriors' official website: "David is a try scorer and in today's game, when defences are tight and it can be hard to manufacture tries, many come down to individual brilliance.

"David is the kind of player that makes things happen, a match winner and do things others do not expect."

The former England scrum-half added: "His ability from playing Sevens means he has the ability to kick and chase at the right time and has a great side step.

"He brings something different to the game and poses a challenge for defenders."

Worcester return to action this weekend when they face a tricky trip to leaders Harlequins on Saturday.
