Jonjo O'Neill is happy with the weight the handicapper has allotted Synchronised for the John Smith's Grand National but he is not sure if his charge will run in the April 14 feature.
Synchronised has been allotted top-weight of 11st 10lb for the Aintree marathon, a burden O'Neill is not unduly upset about, but the Lexus Chase winner could sidestep the race if connections decide to go for the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup instead.
"If it was a normal handicap he's not too badly in really, he's given a bit of a chance," O'Neill said.
"He stays really well and we now know he goes on better ground. We'll definitely look at the Gold Cup first and see then. I can see him running a very big race."
Last year's winner Ballabriggs will have to carry 11st 9lb if he is to become the first horse since Red Rum to win the race in successive years and Donald McCain has no problem with the weight.
"Although Ballabriggs has been given a big weight, I am not surprised and I certainly haven't got a problem with it," he said.
"He's won the race before, he's a big strong horse who can carry the weight and I am hoping to give him a racecourse gallop at Haydock at the weekend and then it's hopefully on to Kelso in early March for his reappearance."
McCain has entered Weird Al (11st 8lb) and Wymott (10st 2lb) in the feature but the trainer has warned that they are far from certain to run.
"Weird Al has been given a fair weight but, to be honest, I am not thinking any further than the Cheltenham Gold Cup with him," he added.
"Wymott would have a nice racing weight if he was able to get in but I would think it was unlikely that he would get a run."
