Oxford need to find form

by Steve Bower , 23 September 2008

Oxford take on Cambridge live on Setanta Sports on Tuesday night and the focus will be on the home side who have made a disappointing start to the season.

They were among the favourites for promotion at the start of the season, but are down in 20th place - 14 places below Tuesday’s rivals.

It’s not been a smooth start, though, as Darren Patterson has not been able to field his best team so far, particularly strikers Jamie Guy and James Constable. If they could get games together they would be one of the best pairings in the league. Jamie Guy got injured the week before the season started, Constable has also had a knock as well and he has had three red cards alone this season.

Billy Turley, one of the best keepers in the league, has been out for six months. He came back at the weekend against Crawley and lasted just 27 minutes and went off with a groin injury and that has been Oxford’s season really.

But sooner or later they are going to have to try and change their fortunes and they will look to start that against Cambridge, live on Setanta Sports on Tuesday night.
