Newcastle home form key to survival

by Steve Claridge , 10 April 2009

You are going to get everyone for the first time in a long time feeling they are pulling in the same direction with Alan Shearer at the helm.

Owner Mike Ashley actually signing autographs, the Shearer effect with everything appearing to be going in the right direction.

It was almost expected they would not win that game against Chelsea but Shearer has been brought to that club to galvanize them and galvanize that home form.

That is where they can stay up. They have the three very winnable games and they also go to Stoke.

Shearer will have an effect on the home games, the crowd and everything around it. That is why they have brought him in.

It really should look after itself and if the players go out there and do the business they will not lack for backing.

He almost brings them a latitude to make mistakes because if they do, I don’t think the crowd will be on their case, like if they had been under someone else.
