Owls hope for cash boost

Chicago company Club 9 Sports hope to complete a takeover in the next few weeks once they have addressed 'accounting and legal issues' and Irvine says it can only be a good thing for the Owls.

Irvine has been forced to work with little funds since taking charge but that could all change if Club 9 Sports takeover the club.

They are willing to back the Owls no matter what division they are in next season and Irvine is excited at the prospect of working with them.

"If somebody is going to come in and give us some money and maybe get some players in, that would be nice," he said. "I came in knowing there was a possibility of a takeover; I didn't take the job on that basis; I knew it was going to be a case of working with what we had. I was happy to do that. "

If something happens that makes things easier, that would be fantastic."

Hooper in fitness fight

Hooper was forced to sit out the defeat against Ipswich at the weekend with the problem and Iron boss Nigel Adkins is not sure whether his leading goalscorer will be fit for Wednesday night's trip to St James' Park either.

"We will have to wait and regarding Wednesday," Adkins said of the situation. "I'd like to think he would be fit for the remaining home games."

Striker out for Addicks

McKenzie missed the 4-0 defeat at Millwall on Saturday after picking up the injury in training on Thursday and Addicks boss Phil Parkinson has confirmed he will not be available for the rest of the month.

The 31-year-old has mainly had to settle for a place on the bench since arriving in September but it still leaves Parkinson a man short as the Addicks enter a crucial stage of the season.

Lambert cool on title talk

The Canaries picked up another crucial three points as they beat Huddersfield 3-1 and things got even better for the Canaries as nearest rivals Leeds lost at Southampton.

It means City are in a very strong position as they look to win promotion back to the Championship but Lambert is refusing to get carried away.

"Nobody here is thinking about the title," Lambert revealed. "Other people might look at the league table but we don't. The people at the club told me when I took over that I had to get the team to the play-offs. That was the only target."

Pards targets four wins

Saints picked up another great win as they defeated Leeds at St Mary's on Saturday but Pardew says they cannot afford any slip ups when Swindon visit on Tuesday night.

"I think we have got to win our next four," Pardew revealed. "I think we can probably afford one slip up, but not in the next four games because it will hurt our momentum. "

We need to win eight, or maybe nine of those games to have a chance, and I think we would have a chance if we won nine so it's there for us.

This team has proven, particularly at home that it is good enough, it's the five away games, which don't look particularly taxing on paper, that we have to win."
