Vaughan secures loan exit

Leicester have beaten Derby in the race to sign Everton striker James Vaughan on an initial one-month loan deal.

The 21-year-old, who has made 10 appearances for David Moyes' side this season, scoring twice, has been allowed to move to the Foxes on loan to give him some regular action in the Championship.

Vaughan, who was at Derby on loan earlier in the season but managed just two appearances due to injury, will go straight into the Leicester squad for Saturday's clash against Cardiff at the Walkers Stadium.

There was considerable interest in the striker, with Derby said to be keen to re-sign the youngster but Leicester secured the deal - much to the delight of chairman Milan Mandaric.

"James is a proper player," he said. "It wasn't simple. The player was wanted by other teams. "

I have a good relationship with the Everton chairman and I said to him that my manager would like the player and your manager wants him to get additional experience so let's close the deal."
