Mark Webber is looking forward to racing against Sebastian Vettel in Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix after conceding his Red Bull team-mate deserved to claim pole position.
Webber was the fastest man on track during the middle part of qualifying but he was unable to match Vettel's pace in Q3 as the German eased to his seventh pole of the season.
The Australian was realistic in his assessment of the session but is confident he can challenge the German in the race itself.
"I did my best. It was probably not the cleanest lap in the first one, but that is the way it goes. He deserved pole today," he told reporters.
"It was not my day today, but I'm still on front row. The guys have done a phenomenal job today. I’m looking forward to tomorrow."
Vettel has made it clear he needs to make a good start to maintain his position at the front of the grid and Webber is expecting a tough fight to the first corner.
"It is going to be an interesting start and after that, you know with these regulations, the race can be interesting in terms of trying to stay awake. We'll see how the start goes and then see if we can stay awake," he added.
