Jack O’Connor has been handed a new three-year term as manager of the Kerry senior football team.
O’Connor, who led the Kingdom to All-Irelands in 2004 and 2006 in his first run of years in charge of the team, returned to the county hotseat for the 2009 campaign, two years after leaving it.
He added a third Sam Maguire crown to his CV that year, though this season saw his side eliminated at the quarter-final stage by Sunday’s freshly-secured finalists Down.
There had been plenty of speculation about O'Connor's future, but the Dromid Pearses clubman has now accepted a new three-year agreement and will immediately focus on building a team to regain the All-Ireland crown in just over 12 months’ time.
Meanwhile, former Kingdom goalkeeper Diarmuid Murphy is set to join the county backroom set-up as a selector in place of Eamon Fitzmaurice, with Ger O'Keeffe continuing in that role as well and Alan O'Sullivan remaining as a trainer.
