Everton eye Portuguese striker Djalo

by Admin , 02 September 2010

Everton are thought to be lining up a January bid for Sporting Lisbon striker Yannick Djalo after making contact with the club.

Reports in the Portuguese press indicate that the Toffees contacted Djalo's agent about bringing him to the Premier League but failed to put a deal in place on transfer deadline day.

Having failed to signed the Portugal international on Tuesday Everton could go back in for him in January, although they face stiff competition from Aston Villa and Newcastle who are also believed to have made contact with Sporting on the last day of the transfer window, according to the player's agent.

Djalo is believed to be available for around £5m and could be an enticing prospect to the trio of Premier League clubs given their lack of strength in depth up front.
