Ryan Giggs has admitted that it would be tough to turn down the chance to become Wales manager as John Toshack prepares to depart.
The 61-year-old is expected to step down as coach of the Welsh team on Thursday after six years in charge having failed to help the team reach a major championships.
Toshack reportedly thinks he has taken the team as far as he can, having tried to blood a number of youngsters and is expected to step aside to let someone else have a crack.
A number of names have already been linked with the post but the early favourite is Giggs, who has admitted it would be a dream come true to manage the Wales national team.
"If you go into management, the big job is to be in charge of your country. And I'm no different in terms of thinking like that," Giggs, who has already taken Uefa coaching badges, said in the Daily Telegraph.
"At the moment it is difficult, because I still have commitments as a player.
"
But I always use the Sparky (Mark Hughes) situation.
"One minute he is playing for Wales and in the Premier League with Blackburn, then the next thing you know, he is managing his country.
"
Sparky never really planned for that."
