Robin van Persie's latest injury is worse than first thought, with the striker not set to return for a month and a half, at the very least.
The Dutch attacker suffered the ankle injury during Arsenal's win away to Blackburn late last month.
It was initially thought, following an announcement from the Netherlands' Football Association, that he could return before the end of September.
However, van Persie will have to wait a "little longer" than that "before he is back in the first-team frame", according to Arsenal's official website.
He will miss at least five Premier League games for Arsenal, as well as a minimum of two Champions League encounters.
Arsenal fans, however, did receive some positive injury news via the club's website on Tuesday afternoon.
"Samir Nasri is ahead of schedule in his recovery from knee surgery," the article on Arsenal.com revealed.
"The Frenchman sustained a meniscal injury against Liverpool on the opening day of the season and was expected to be sidelined for a month.
"But Nasri will return to full training in the next few days."
