Newcastle United’s reward for ousting Chelsea from the Carling Cup is another tough tie after they were drawn at home to Arsenal in the fourth round.
Saturday’s draw saw Brentford handed a trip to Birmingham City after they kicked out Everton during the week, while Northampton Town have missed out on another huge draw. They put Liverpool out after penalties at Anfield in midweek, but it is Championship Ipswich Town at Portman Road for them next up.
Holders Manchester United have been handed a home draw against Premier League opposition, with Mick McCarthy’s Wolverhampton Wanderers set for the trip to Old Trafford, while 2010 runners-up Aston Villa will play at home to Burnley, midweek conquerors of Bolton Wanderers.
Roberto Mancini’s Wigan Athletic take on his old club Swansea City at the DW Stadium, while West Ham United were drawn at home to Stoke City in the third of the three all-top flight ties. West Bromwich Albion face a midlands derby at Leicester City.
