Sale flanker James Gaskell has been named as the captain of the England Saxons for their match against the Irish Wolfhounds on Saturday.
The 21-year-old will lead the side for the first time and will have plenty of experience around him with five full internationals in the starting line-up for the match in Exeter.
These include the back three of full-back Delon Armitage and wings Matt Banahan and Ugo Monye who will all be hoping for strong performances as they look for recalls to the senior side.
There are also four debutants in the team, with fly-half Freddie Burns, centre Matt Hopper, scrum-half Ben Spencer and Leicester No.8 Thomas Waldrom all being rewarded for their fine form at club level.
Coach Jon Callard is understandably delighted to be able to utilise such a mix of experience and potential, and says that although Gaskell is the official captain, he is looking for leadership throughout the side.
"He's a smart player, a real calming influence and he demonstrates his authority by his actions on the pitch," Callard said. "He's the leader of a group of leaders and we want to promote individual responsibility.
"For example Paul Doran-Jones runs the scrum, George Robson the line-out, Freddie Burns and Ben Spencer will control the tempo, and Delon Armitage brings his vision and authority at full-back."
