Stephen Ferris has been cited as a result of an incident in Ireland's RBS Six Nations defeat to Wales on Sunday.
Ferris was given a yellow card in the final minute of the 23-21 defeat at the Aviva Stadium after he was adjudged to have dangerously lifted Ian Evans in midfield. Wales were awarded a penalty, which Leigh Halfpenny struck with confidence to claim a famous victory.
The Ulster player has been cited by the independent Six Nations Citing Commissioner for the match, Achille Reali (Italy), for foul play under IRB Law 10.4(j) and he will go before the Six Nations Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday to plead his case.
Wales' Bradley Davies has also been cited for his reckless tip-tackle on Donnacha Ryan.
The incident was missed by referee Wayne Barnes but he was eventually yellow-carded after assistant Dave Pearson alerted Barnes to the tackle.
After the match Wales coach Warren Gatland admitted Davies was lucky to escape with only a sin-binning and he is facing a lengthy suspension if found guilty by the Six Nations Disciplinary Committee.
