McLeish hopeful on injury front

by Setanta Staff , 07 February 2012 McLeish hopeful on injury front

Aston Villa hope to have a trio of players back available for Sunday's home clash with league leaders Manchester City.

Striker Gabriel Agbonlahor (back and hamstring), winger Marc Albrighton (thigh) and defender James Collins (calf) all missed Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Newcastle.

But Agbonlahor is making good progress working in tandem with Villa's medical team while Albrighton and Collins are expected to resume training later in the week.

"James and Marc will train on Friday while Gabby is making good progress and we're hoping he'll make Sunday as well," McLeish revealed.

Midfielder Stephen Ireland is also expected to be available after being substituted with an ankle injury against the Magpies.

McLeish said: "I don't think there's too much wrong with Stevie."
