Etuhu eyes extended run

by Setanta Staff , 09 February 2012 Midfielder eyes extended run

Dickson Etuhu is hoping to retain his place in Fulham's midfield after making his first appearance of 2012 against Manchester City.

Etuhu was given the chance to show what he could do at the weekend in the Cottagers' 3-0 defeat to the Premier League leaders following a month-long spell on the sidelines.

The 29-year-old had been frozen out of Martin Jol's plans last month after putting in a transfer request as a result of his frustration at a lack of regular first-team action.

However, the Dutchman opted to include him again on Saturday after the window came and went without the midfielder getting the move he had demanded.

Etuhu is now hoping he has done enough to convince Jol to stick by him for Fulham's upcoming game with Stoke.

He told Fulham's official website: "I can build from that. Obviously, in this week's training I've got to try and push on and get my fitness up but I'm looking forward to the game at home against Stoke.

"That's probably the more important one for us and hopefully we can get the three points. It's always tough when you play Stoke but we believe we can win at home.

"We're looking to obviously go and win our home games and I'm sure that, if we play the way we can, we'll do that."
